John Carlo Felicella has a long and illustrious career in the realm of International culinary competition. He first became interested in competition when approached by respected colleague, mentor and cherished friend, Bruno Marti. Since this introduction, John Carlo has accumulated an impressive list of accolades in too many competitions to list as a manager, organizer and competitor. From West Vancouver, B.C., JC is a strong supporter of the Canadian Culinary Federation and the B.C. Chefs’ Association and has held numerous positions in the organization including, National Secretary and Manager of Culinary Team Canada from 2005 to 2009. Under his tutelage the team garnered 15 gold and 1 silver medal and a fifth place finish at the 2008 IKA culinary Olympics in Erfurt, Germany
As the Department Head of the Culinary Arts Department at Vancouver Community College, John Carlo recently, managed and coached the 2012 National Junior Culinary Team. Included in the Junior Team’s exploits were successful competitive journeys to Ireland, Peru, Costa Rica, Equator, South Korea and, of course, Erfurt, Germany. Highlights of the junior experience were cooking for Prince William and Kate during their visit to Ottawa and cooking for the Canadian Ambassador to South Korea in Seoul.
A new four year adventure begins and Chef Felicella looks forward to many exciting challenges leading up to the 2016 Culinary Olympiad with excitement, determination, pride, and gratitude for the opportunity to represent his nation.
As an instructor at Vancouver Community College, John Carlo is heading the project of Quizine kitchen. The new cafeteria program at the Broadway location of VCC with the new International Culinary Arts Diploma program.
John Carlo is a proud father of two beauitful girls, Alyssa and Anna, and husband to Bonnie. And proud father to the newest addition of their family, Loki, their German shepherd.
